“The story – from Rumpelstiltskin to War and Peace – is one of the basic tools invented by the human mind for the purpose of understanding. There have been great societies that did not use the wheel, but there have been no societies that did not tell stories.” – Ursula K. Le Guin
Stories resonate with people. People remember stories. In your marketing and business development efforts – tell great stories. Share information about your experience, skills, and capabilities by developing and sharing vivid stories. Don’t be long-winded; simply share enough details so that people remember. If you are an architect, tell the story about how you helped the client – don’t just show the end professional photograph. If you are a CPA, share an example of working with a client who had the same challenge that your prospective client has. Talk about these people and their problems and how you worked along-side them to help them solve their biggest challenges. You will get your point across more clearly, you will be remembered, you will be understood.
